In Indonesia
Komnas Perempuan is an independent national institution that promotes women’s human rights by working to create an environment conducive to the elimination of all forms of violence against women in Indonesia. The Commission was established by Presidential Decree in 1998, via pressure from the women’s movement in response to the sexual violence experienced mostly by ethnic Chinese women during the May 1998 Riots. In response to organizational development within Komnas Perempuan, Presidential Decree Number 65/2005 was signed, superseding the former Decree

Komnas Perempuan uses the International convention for the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and its related Declaration on Violence Against Women as its reference points, as well as the Indonesian Law on Human Rights and the newly amended Indonesian Constitution.

In Molukken (Indonesia)
Humanum is lid van het Baileo Maluku Netwerk (www.baileo.or.id) Dit netwerk is sinds 1988 actief en is verspreid over de Molukse archipel. Hoewel Baileo Maluku Netwerk geen specifieke vrouwennetwerk is, hebben ze één belangrijke doelstelling, namelijk het verbeteren van de positie en vergroten van de rol van vrouwen. Zowel Humanum als het netwerk zijn organisaties met expertise op het gebied van vrouwen empowerment.
